Spending every night hammering out repeatable bounties on the moon takes no skill. Once you’ve reached your pinnacle level cap, there’s nothing left to do to prove you’re capable of taking on the Grandmaster Nightfall. The only thing standing in your way is a massive, arbitrary grind through repetitive, meaningless content. It doesn’t feel like you’re working towards anything - just a grind for grind’s sake.
That’s one hell of a laundry list. Even if a newer player somehow has all of that , you’re going to need armor with enough upgrades to fit all of those mandatory mods. Unless you can Masterwork your armor—the reason you’d be running Master Nightfalls in the first place—you’ll also be limiting which weapons you can use since these Orb-generating mods only work for certain damage types. Unfortunately, that might not be the worst part of this change.
The first 100 levels are easy enough if you’re playing consistently. Every season has a list of xp-granting challenges that unlock each week. If you log in every week, do your pinnacle activities, and complete the available challenges, then finishing the battle pass and getting to 1340 isn’t a big deal. The issue becomes apparent once your challenges are complete and you have no more easy sources of experience. At that point, getting Grandmaster Nightfall ready is just a matter of grinding for experience anyway you can.
Most of these Triumphs are pretty time-intensive and require many hours of playtime. If you're someone who isn't dissuaded by a lengthy grind or wants something to tide them over until Witch Queen, chasing the MMXXI title isn't a bad idea. Let's go over all of the Triumphs tied to this title and how best to complete them. Bear in mind that this title has 30 Triumphs in total. Use the table of contents above to jump to a specific Triumph you're struggling w
It wasn’t that they needed to purchase a piece of DLC to earn Dead Man’s Tale that bugged them. It was Bungie’s strategy of bundling older seasons into a Digital Deluxe version of Beyond Light that made my friend immediately disinterested. They felt forced to pay for content they had no interest in to access a weapon that looked cool to them. That price tag surely didn’t help either.
PvP: Recommended Browsing Crucible, Gambit, and Trials of Osiris have hundreds of Triumphs that give around ten points each. Even if you hate PvP, consider playing a little of each mode every week to unlock a wide range of Trium
In a recent This Week at Bungie blog post , Bungie revealed that Masterworked weapons would no longer generate Orbs of Power. Instead, players will now have to install an armor mod on their helmet to re-enable this functionality on some __ guns, determined by damage type. Does your loadout use Void and Solar weapons? You’ll need to give up not one but two mod slots in your build. Like using Kinetic weapons too? Enjoy the compromise. While this does allow Exotics without catalysts the ability to generate Orbs, this change perpetuates an issue that’s been plaguing Destiny for nearly a year: mod bloat.

Destiny’s reliance on armor mods is starting to become an issue. It has been a growing pain that you need certain mods to even attempt endgame content—notably Protective Light and Champion mods. Champion mods always go on your arms, so the unique ability-centric mods that typically go there are seldom used. It’s hard to justify using Impact Induction when all endgame content has two Champion types present.

The clearest example of this is the Forsaken Pack, a $20 DLC that sells the raid, dungeon, and weapons tied to the Forsaken expansion. Bungie released the campaign for free, but they are still charging money for the DLC’s post-story content. And you know what the worst part is? That free campaign won’t exist once The Witch Queen launches . It doesn’t matter if you bought Forsaken or not; that DLC’s campaign will be inaccessible for the foreseeable future. Bungie could have released the entire expansion for free to beef up the free-to-play experience, but they chose not to. They locked the best parts of Forsaken behind a paywall instead.
I think the best way of showcasing my point is to simply tell you what new Guardians go through in today’s version of Destiny. They are brought to a character screen, create a class that sounds cool to them, then are immediately sent into a Dares of Eternity game . Before you even know how to throw a grenade, Destiny throws you into a wacky game show with a celestial horse and some hooded NPC that keeps breaking the fourth wall. This is clearly a bug, but it sucks that a New Light’s first impression is a game mode they can’t beat unless veteran Destiny players intentionally drop their Power Level to bail them out.
