When she’s not fighting, Marion is often stuck with people who want to take advantage of her. Pirate captain Katanga even saves her life by claiming she’s a sex slave to be sold. To be fair, Marion is the series’ best female lead but given her role in Raiders of the Lost Ark, the bar’s set pretty
In the temple in the opening scene of Raiders of the Lost Ark , little hieroglyphs of R2-D2 and C-3PO can be seen engraved on the wall . They can also be seen engraved on a golden pillar in the Well of Souls. This could just be seen as a fun Easter egg. But on top of that, the use of R2-D2 and C-3PO as hieroglyphs also seems to suggest that those droids actually went on their cosmic adventures a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away , and the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises take place in the same unive
Lauded as one of the greatest movies ever made, Raiders of the Lost Ark introduced the movie-going world to one of its most timeless icons: Indiana Jones . Even though the dream team of Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, who had each directed a record-breaker for the highest grossing movie ever made at this point, were behind the production, they struggled to garner any interest from the major Hollywood stud
The aesthetic can make for fun period pieces, but World War II itself has become a cliché. Today, setting a story during the war is seen as a shortcut to gaining audience sympathy since the genre’s simplistic morals are basically prem
According to The Hollywood Reporter , this scene was originally supposed to have a lengthy fight between the swordsman and Indy’s whip, but Harrison Ford wasn’t feeling well, so it was switched to the now-legendary anti-cli
I think that I just had a feel for her from the very beginning. I think I just love stepping into her shoes, so to speak. She's a very vibrant, bold, survivor - she's kind of an independent character and everything I aspire to be. So, it was quite a wonderful invitation to me to play a character like that. I've never punched anyone in the jaw in my entire life, and I probably will go to my grave without ever hitting anyone in the face. But I just love her boldness. I love that she, even in a situation like that, was able to speak fully the pain and disappointment and anger that she felt towards him is such a direct way. Not that I condone violence, but in the film it definitely had an impact; she's seeing him for the first time in 10 years, and her responses to just take a swing at
Along the way, the pair cross paths with one bizarre character after another, including a drug dealer portrayed by a young McConaughey. Cheesy and dull, Scorpion Spring tries to be way too big for its britc
You know, I go back to it. I mean, I very rarely to say to myself, "Gee, I think I'll watch Raiders of the Lost Ark PvP guide Ark." But there are often screenings of it that I get invited to, and I get asked to introduce it or to do a Q&A afterwards. There's one I'm going to do this August. So, usually when those happen, I will sit with the audience and watch it again. Because often, I haven't seen it for a while, and I just want to have the same experience that they're having with them. I would say I usually will end up seeing it once a year, or maybe sometimes twice a year. It's a film that follows through my life. There's a lot of films I've made that I saw when they came out and haven't seen them since. But this is this is not one of those; this is one that has stayed very much a part of my life experie
Spielberg seemingly acknowledged this as proven by his Holocaust drama Schindler’s List and the works that followed. No longer were Nazis depicted as silly bad guys for someone to beat up. Instead, they were shown in all of their monstrosity and inhuman
Yes, those scenes where I am barefoot, which there are a lot of when I'm in that white dress, for the most part. It's very fanciful that I put on that white dress and a pair of high heels out in the middle of the desert. And then I seem to lose my shoes entirely in the Well of Souls. It's interesting. I don't know exactly how I got through being barefoot for all of that. Certainly, in the Well of Souls with all the snakes, it was very challenging. There were a lot of snakes there, and I had nothing on my teeth and nothing on my legs - once the skirt gets ripped, the bottom half of my legs is also completely bare. So, it does feel very much like I have no protection against the fire and the snakes and everything that was going on. I don't know, you just rise to the occasion, as they say. When you're an actor, they throw all these circumstances at you. You just have to sometimes take a deep breath and see it as a part of the adventure. What can I say? I guess I'm a good sp
The "Raiders March" is unique, rousing, and instantly recognizable by nearly any movie-goer today, while "Marion's Theme" invokes feelings of love. Perhaps his best work, though, is found in the mystical themes surrounding the movie's famous MacGuffin: the Ark of the Covena
